The jewellery is handmade using mainly glass beads that are produced by traditional methods on the banks of the river Ganges in India, and imported to the UK in a fair trade agreement. Ceramic, wood, metal, semi-precious and crystal beads are also used with vintage beads and additions sourced from second hand shops, vintage dealers and markets.
Utilising a knowledge of beads and suppliers, from world-wide importers to local vintage dealers to offer a conscious ethic and free-spirited approach to wearing elegant beads every day. 'Minnie Lavinia' items are made using recycled vintage and antique, broken and found jewellery, and through efforts to source new quality handmade components and beads from reputable and ethical manufacturers.
Necklaces are made in three lengths: short (16") medium (18-27") and long (27-34"). The clasp fittings are silver or gold plated and nickel-free, with the exception of recycled vintage fittings, and bespoke pieces which may use sterling silver or real gold clasps. Earrings are always made with sterling silver or real gold ear hooks and studs.
The jewellery is made around a colour range or theme, with new collections produced seasonally. All pieces are essentially 'one-of-a-kind' as every design will differ in some way, and may also include a rare or vintage addition.
All jewellery comes gift boxed. The gift boxes are 100% recycled and hand printed.
